As everywhere, there are at least a few rules/restrictions/recommendations🤐📋.
☝️ВImportant
These rules apply to all communication channels of the blog: the website itself, the Telegram channel, the Raven’s Chat, the GitHub repository, and email.
1️⃣ Respect for the interlocutor
Our micro-community includes both seasoned admins and newcomers. Therefore, one of the main requirements for dialogue with like-minded people is to conduct it with an allowance for the possible lack of experience among some comrades.
We all learn. Someone knows how to build a cluster blindfolded, while someone else heard the word cron for the first time. It’s not shameful not to know – it’s shameful not to respect.
2️⃣ Constructive criticism
Sound criticism is always welcome, but only with appropriate argumentation🧐.
Sound criticism is not “you don’t understand anything”, but “here’s why such an approach can be dangerous in production”.
3️⃣ Asking questions is normal
No “Google it yourself” or “such questions are not asked”. If someone asks, it means they want to understand. Helping genuinely interested people is a good deed.
4️⃣ Share experience, don’t self-assert
When writing a comment, think about whether it will make something clearer, easier, or more interesting for someone. If yes, feel free to hit Enter.
5️⃣ About off-topic and toxicity
The main topic of the blog is Linux and Open source. But this does not mean that conversation topics are limited only to these. Humor is also welcome, but not to the detriment of the essence and not at the expense of other participants.
6️⃣ No advertising or self-promotion
Unless agreed with the blog author, no “relevant” links to your courses, channels, services, etc. Otherwise, a warning, and upon repetition – a ban⛔.
7️⃣ About “blockages”
It is highly discouraged to discuss the topic of “blockages”, for obvious reasons. I will quote my own response to the question “why?” from one of the subscribers:
I want to share my experience with people who might find it interesting. And if I force the topic of blockages, and God forbid, their circumvention, then most of the target audience will, sooner or later, simply not be able to access my site.
8️⃣ About politics?
Discussion of political events is allowed only in one case - if these events explicitly affect the IT sphere.
9️⃣ About religion
The only “religion” in the blog community is Linux and Open Source. Discussion of others is not recommended.
🔟 About insults and profanity
Direct and veiled insults when communicating with like-minded people are prohibited. That’s it.
The use of obscene language in the community is also undesirable but permissible if it is a harmless literary device or in the context of humor.
In my blog, I strive to maintain an atmosphere of friendly and intelligent communication, condemning snobbery😑. Unfortunately, however, marginal individuals with “school-level” humor sometimes appear. Like everyone else, I have a certain line, upon crossing which a warning is issued, and if it is ignored – a ban.
I hope for your understanding, common sense😌, and decency🧐.
Welcome to the club😎🐧
