Another line from my favorite fantasy saga «The Black Company». The author of this work has a very subtle sense of the principles by which human life unfolds, and this quote is a great example of that. The phrase is attributed to the most pivotal character of the saga, from whose perspective most of the books are narrated.
I’m sure this character is the author’s own alter ego, since it’s precisely his philosophical views that get the main emphasis in the novel.
As for the quote itself, I suppose comments are unnecessary. Except perhaps to note that not being a fool and regularly keeping in mind the unpredictability of our existence is quite hard indeed. But not impossible, that’s for sure 😉 Have a good day.
