Video Selection Number 2: Tape Libraries, a Chinese PC, Cyberattacks, Programming Languages, and Feynman on the Future of Computers
Greetings!

This selection of five videos touches on very different sides of IT: from installing a tape library and reviewing a Chinese PC to the story of a cyberattack, an explanation of the diversity of programming languages, and Richard Feynman’s historical predictions about the future of computing.

Video 1️⃣ - The Tale of How We Bought a Tape Library for the Office

A video about installing a tape library in a server rack. This is a special device designed for creating backups on magnetic tapes, which can be easily removed and stored separately from the main system. Many people, including me, did not know for a long time that such things existed.

Video 2️⃣ - Testing a Chinese CPU as Part of a Chinese PC

A video review of a PC with a Chinese Loongson processor together with a Chinese GPU, as well as a comparison with an Intel processor. They run Linux.

Video 3️⃣ - Cyberattack on a Country Without Internet

A video about a hacker who tried to disrupt the systems of one country.

Video 4️⃣ - Why Are There So Many Programming Languages?

An educational video that gives an idea of why there is such diversity in the world of programming languages.

Video 5️⃣ - ## Richard Feynman on the Capabilities and Future of Computers, 1985

A curious lecture by the famous physicist Richard Feynman from 1985 about how a computer is built, how it works, and whether machines will be able to “think like humans”. It is interesting to watch a scientist’s view after so many years.

Enjoy watching📺.
